Everything you need to know about the Tangerine credit card

Tangerine is a bit late to the party with a credit card, but it’s almost here. For those of you waiting patiently to get a credit card from the boys in orange, it was worth the wait.

The Tangerine credit card

Also known as the Tangerine Money-Back MasterCard, this is Tangerine’s first foray into personal credit products.  But what are they offering?

  • Earn 2% Money-Back Rewards on purchases in two 2% Money-Back Categories. Have your Money-Back Rewards deposited into a Tangerine Savings Account, and get a 3rd 2% Money-Back Category.
  • 1% Money-Back Rewards on all other purchases.
  • No limit on the amount of Money-Back Rewards you can earn.
  • No annual fee.
  • Change your 2% Money-Back Categories to suit your spending. Money-Back Rewards are earned automatically and can either be applied towards your Credit Card balance or redeemed into your Savings Account monthly.

Overall it’s looking like a pretty sweet card. The money-back categories look to cater to pretty much anyone and the fact that this sucker has no annual fee is pretty insane. The card contains the latest chip security technology as well as MasterCard “Tap and Go” technology. This is great because Tangerine’s current debit card lacks the tap NFC technology that allows you to make quick small purchases at contactless payment terminals across the country.

Who needs this card?

The prime focus of this card is probably existing Tangerine customers who have been yearning to completely leave their existing large bank. Until now, credit cards have been one of the only reasons not to completely move finances all the way over to Tangerine.

Also, anyone who has been on the fence about leaving their current bank now has one more reason to move to Tangerine.

How to get it
